The FLORETINA- ICOOR Executive Board:
One of the greatest figures in Italian ophthalmology passed away today.
Professor Bruno Lumbroso has been always a man of many resources.
He loved Ophthalmology like a passionate lover attentive to every wish and small clue.
He followed its development, growth and often became a promoter of new therapeutic and diagnostic approaches comparing himself with the great international realities to which he was always attracted.
Promoter of advanced diagnostics and therapy and imaging first with Fluorangiography, Indocyanine Green, Laser and then with OCT and OCT Angiography.
He never stopped willing to learn but more importantly he never lost the will to teach. Countless are his conferences that brought us together in our educational growth phase.
The pinnacle of educational events is surely recognized in his International Congress on OCT Angiography, En Face OCT and Advances in OCT (ICOOR) that brought together distinguished names present nationally and internationally. The importance and majesty of the event, however, was marked by the spirit of friendship and brotherhood that has always been breathed since its first edition.
This is why we were honoured to accept when we agreed to continue to popularize ICOOR united with FLORETINA. A big commitment but a great satisfaction.
Thank you Bruno for what you have been for all of us and for the trust placed in the FLOREtina-ICOOR board.
We will try to disseminate what you have taught and entrusted to us hoping to communicate the same passion that we have, the way you did it. It will not be easy, but we will try.
Special thanks to his wife Josette and his sons Livia and Ugo, who often deprived themselves of their Husband/Father’s presence to allow him to pursue his great dream: to know Ophthalmology in all its facets.
Bye Bruno, may the earth be light to you; from up there continue to illuminate the path of Ophthalmology. We will do many more OCT exams together and write many new books in another life.
